The Smart Neighbor’s Project is an ongoing collaborative and multidisciplinary effort between classrooms at SUNY Oswego and local independent businesses. Students apply their knowledge and skills to the promotion of a downtown business with the purpose of encouraging the community to shop local and contribute to the success of downtown Oswego.
In 2018, the H. Lee White Maritime Museum was the Smart Neighbor’s business, aligning the project with the Fresh Water Grand Challenge undertaken by the college as a whole. Students from cinematography, creative nonfiction, documentary film-making, marketing, photography, screenwriting, English composition, and graphic design classes participated in the project.
The Smart Neighbors Project Art Show features the works of Graphic Design Professor Elizabeth Hunt’s students.
