  • 2018 Lake Ontario CNY Lighthouse Challenge

    The fifth annual Lake Ontario Central New York Lighthouse Challenge will take place this year on Saturday and Sunday, August 4th and 5th, 2018.

     

    The challenge is to visit eight unique New York lighthouses within two days.  The official route runs east from Rock Island Light to West at 30 Mile Point outside of Rochester, NY.

     

    Participants will collect a lighthouse stamp or token at each site visited.  Special arrangements have been made to include bonus sites not usually open to the public.  The lighthouses are located along the southern end of Lake Ontario and follow along the St. Lawrence Seaway Trail – a National Scenic Byway.  The tour will be led by renowned pharologist, Ted Panayotoff.

    The challenge includes a guided two day tour aboard a luxury motor coach.  The trip includes two days of travel, registration, challenge materials with information on each lighthouse, local tourist information with special perks and discounts for local attractions and preferred eateries, and a final keepsake awarded for your commitment to exploring and supporting the preservation of Lake Ontario lighthouses.  The full package includes transportation, admission to all sites, boat tour fee to the Rock Island Lighthouse in Clayton and the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse in Oswego. 

     

    Registration deadline is July 1, 2018 at $169 per person, and $199 after that.  The cut-off date is July 10th.

     

    Lighthouses included: Day one will feature the 30 Mile Point Lighthouse, Braddock Point Light, Charlotte-Genesse Lighthouse, Rochester Harbor West Pierhead Light, Sodus Bay Light and Sodus Outer Light, and the Fair Haven Range Lights.  Day two will feature the Rock Island Lighthouse in Clayton, the Tibbets Point Lighthouse in Cape Vincent, the Cape Vincent Breakwater Lighthouse, the Selkirk Lighthouse and the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse.
