Holiday History Shoppe Returns to Oswego November 29th

The Holiday History Shoppe will once again be open for your holiday shopping needs beginning on Saturday, Nov. 29 and continuing Wednesdays through Saturdays throughout the month of December. The Shoppe will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the City of Oswego Downtown Visitor Center, 201 W. First St., Oswego.

Annual Christmas at Sea

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego is pleased to host our annual Christmas at Sea Open House on Sunday, December 14th from 1-4:00 pm. Come and celebrate the holiday season in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District, located on the West First Street Pier.

Lee White Maritime Museum is pleased to present “The Conception of the Erie Canal” with Derrick Pratt as part of our History Lecture Series scheduled for Wednesday, October 22nd at 6:00pm.  In celebration of the Erie Canal’s bicentennial, the Maritime Museum’s fall 2025 History Lecture Series explores the lasting impact of the Erie Canal as part of the American experience with featured speakers from regional museums and cultural centers.

Fall History Lecture Series Features Bicentennial of Erie Canal

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is pleased to present “Local Laterals of the Erie Canal’s Middle Division” with Jacob Maloney as part of their History Lecture Series scheduled for Wednesday, September 17th at 6:00pm.  The Maritime Museum’s fall 2025 History Lecture Series explores the lasting impact of the Erie Canal as part of the American experience.  In celebration of the Erie Canal’s bicentennial, the three-part series runs September through November 2025.

2025 Lake Ontario Waterfront Festival

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum and New York Sea Grant have announced new features and hours for the 2025 Lake Ontario Waterfront Festival to be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 along the Oswego Port Authority West Pier at 1 West First Street in Oswego, New York. The free admission event will include live raptors, boats, e-bikes, historic maritime vessels, boat tours, water rescue emergency services, Great Lakes conservation and science exhibits, and free admission to the museum.

2024 Annual Benefit Drawing Winners Announced

On November 20th, at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum's Annual Volunteer Reception, the winners of the Annual Benefit Drawing were selected. They are certainly going to have a blast! This year’s drawing raised close to $6,000.

Tugging Around Oswego Harbor - William Leighton Exhibit

Through photographs, watercolors, and scale models, Leighton’s impressions of tugboats provide a vivid portrait of Oswego Harbor in the 20th century and echo the essential nature of tugboats to harbor operations.  As a professional photographer and twenty-eight-year veteran of the Palladium Times, Leighton’s (1925-2017) love for the workhorse of the water is on full display May 18 through December 22, 2024.
