Christmas at Sea Open House
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego is pleased to host our annual Christmas at Sea Open House on Sunday, December 8th from 1-4:00 pm. Come and celebrate the holiday season in Oswego’s Historic Maritime District, located on the West First Street Pier.
Gingerbread Craft Workshop 2024
The workshop will also include a festive story, additional crafts and cookies. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP by November 15th. This program is free and appropriate for ages 3 years and older.

POSTPONED: History Lecture Series - Shipwrecks of Lake Ontario, A Journey of Discovery
Join us as we welcome Lake Ontario’s most successful shipwreck hunter on a personal and historic exploration of some of the most important shipwrecks discovered in Lake Ontario by his team and shipwreck peers. Jim Kennard will take the audience on a nearly 50-year journey of Lake Ontario shipwreck discovery from the pages of his book.
Tugging Around Oswego Harbor - William Leighton Exhibit
Through photographs, watercolors, and scale models, Leighton’s impressions of tugboats provide a vivid portrait of Oswego Harbor in the 20th century and echo the essential nature of tugboats to harbor operations. As a professional photographer and twenty-eight-year veteran of the Palladium Times, Leighton’s (1925-2017) love for the workhorse of the water is on full display May 18 through December 22, 2024.
Oswego Paddlefest 2024 - Details & Registration
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum presents Oswego Paddlefest, Saturday, July 13, 2024. The event is in its 10th year and encourages kayakers and canoeists to enjoy and appreciate the unique beauty of the historic Oswego Canal/River. Paddlers will experience locking through 4 actual canal locks.
Honoring the 80th Anniversary of D-Day
Today, moored along the West First Street Pier in Oswego Harbor, LT-5 Major Elisha K. Henson serves as a dock-side attraction, a remnant of the greatest generation, and a site worthy of preservation. Seventy-five years ago, the 114’ ocean going tugboat played a crucial role in what General Dwight Eisenhower termed the “Great Crusade” – the allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, colloquially known as D-Day.

Youth Sailboat Sprint - Build Your Own Workshops
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is partnering with the Children’s Museum of Oswego and the City of Oswego to offer two off-site model sailboat building workshops for children ages 5-15 years of age. The first is May 2nd .
Ned & Gail Goebricher Named Volunteers of the Year in 2023
Ned and Gail Goebricher, of Oswego, were honored recently at the Museum’s Annual Volunteer Reception for their dedication to the restoration of the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse and their involvement with the H Lee White Maritime Museum in particular with Lighthouse Boat Tours.

Shipwrecks of Upstate New York
A new exhibit, courtesy of Tim Caza and Dennis Gerber, features twenty five 3D printed and hand painted models of local shipwrecks. On display now, at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum.
