The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is partnering with the Children’s Museum of Oswego and the City of Oswego to offer two off-site model sailboat building workshops for children ages 5-15 years of age. The first is May 2nd . This Thursday’s session will be held downtown at the Children’s Museum from 5:30-7 pm. Sunday’s session will be held at the Oswego Visitor’s Center from 12-3 pm. Sailboat kits may also be picked up at the Maritime Museum during the week from 1-5pm.
Children can assemble and decorate their boats and then attend the Lake Ontario Waterfront Festival, Saturday May 18th 10-5pm and race their homemade model sailboat from between 11-4 pm during the Sailboat Sprint! Other children’s activities include Gyotaku, fish art, and T-shirt making. Children must bring their own T-shirt to decorate. The Pirate King will also be on hand on May 18th.
These workshops are sponsored by the Oswego City/County Youth Bureau and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and in part by Stewarts Shops.
